Math
We will continue our studies in rational number operations focusing on real-world problem solving as well as turning fractions to decimals. Please make sure your child knows these two definitions: terminating decimal and repeating decimal. I will give a quick assessment on these standards on Monday. We will then move into unit rates and complex fractions. We will be exploring how these concepts are handled in every day life. Please make sure you are checking you child's agenda to see if they have any homework. Science We will continue studying the steps of the scientific method, with an emphasis on differentiating between independent and dependent variables in experiments. After a mid-week assessment to gauge mastery of the inquiry process, we will move into the design/engineering process. This unit will be introduced with the short story "Harrison Bergeron" and will culminate in an engineering project in which students will create a biomedical product that will handicap their own greatest strength. More information on the project will be sent out next week. Please make sure you are checking your child's agenda to see if they have any homework.
