We will begin our week off by assessing our knowledge of solving one step equations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). We will then move into solvnig equations of the form px+q=r with rational coefficients by multiplying. This helps to build fluency with two-step equations. This work develops students' understanding that performing the same operation on both sides of an equation can help us solve.
We will continually work on apply solving multi-step equations to a real-world scenario. Key Concept students will use:
At the end of the week we will be writing and solving equations of the form p(x+q) = r.This helps to build procedural skill with solving equations that involve the distributive property. This work develops students' understanding that properties of equality allow us to transform equations into equivalent equations in order to solve. This will lead us into solving multi-step equations. Please see my last post to view/download the Math Mania that is due this Friday February 5th. Comments are closed.
