Last week we were unable to get to tax, tip and discount so we will be beginning the week off with those concepts. We will build on the previous lessons as it extends students’ understanding of ratio and rate reasoning to percents.
Students also write and solve 1-‐step equations as part of their work with percents; for example, the question “If Travis paid a total of 21.60, including 9% sales tax, what was the price of the item he purchased?” can be represented by the equation 1.09x = 21.60. Things we will be focusing on:
