Math
This week in math, we'll be continuing our unit on probability. We'll be focusing on experimental vs. theoretical probability, independent vs. dependent events, and using simulations to predict possible outcomes. A quiz will be given on Thursday over simple and compound probability (two separate grades) after we review on Tuesday/Wednesday, and another quiz will be given on Friday over the previously-mentioned new standards. Science This week in science will start off with VSVS lessons for all three classes. We pick back up on Tuesday with an introduction to the layers of the earth. Students will be required to work in pairs on laptops to overcome my current lack of a projector - have your child bring headphones/earbuds to school this week if they don't already. A quiz on the layers of the Earth will be given Wednesday or Thursday, depending on how fast we cover the material. We will finish out the week with an intro to plate tectonics. Below is the link for the Advanced Course Application. If you are interested in having your child placed in advanced classes in 8th grade, this is the first step!
