Math
Monday will be spent finishing and reviewing the study guide for the percents unit test. Students have already been given their study guides - I would highly recommend going over it with them at some point this weekend. The unit test is on Tuesday. Starting Wednesday, students will take a pretest on probability, and we will begin that unit the same day. Science The first quiz of our new unit on rocks and minerals will be on Tuesday. Students will need to know how to read a chart to identify certain minerals (this is a 5th grade skill and the question on the quiz is very easy), know when a mineral looks like it has fracture vs. when it has cleavage, how to rule out solids that are NOT considered minerals, and be able to define "streak." This is a 4-question test, so missing even 1 question will result in a C, missing 2 will be an F. Have your child study our recent notes on mineral qualities over the weekend if possible, and definitely on Monday night. We will begin our lessons on rocks starting Wednesday.
