This week, on Tuesday, students will take an OPEN NOTES reading quiz on ANIMAL FARM. Our young scholars know they are to be annotating each chapter of the book. Recently, I read along with them and told them the kinds of things they need to have in their annotations. This quiz will cover chapters 1 - 5.
The vocabulary quiz will be Wednesday. As previously stated, knowledge of the words with an asterisk will be assessed by each student's ability to use them in sentences. The remaining words will simply need to be matched to their short definitions/synonyms.
Scholars will get words on the second half of the book Wednesday.
We will also begin using some class time to work on Persuasive Essays this week.
In the meantime, we will continue to work with Aristotle's Rhetorical Triangle. We are looking for examples of Logos, Pathos, and Ethos in various examples of persuasive text. Students will be graded on their knowledge of it by the end of the unit (we still have a couple of weeks left).
