Hello - if your child was out any days last week, he or she may have a Rhetorical Triangle Quiz or a vocabulary test to make up.
There are no tests scheduled this week; however, students will conduct an argument analysis for a grade (identify the claim, reasons, evidence, counter-claim, and rebuttal).
In addition, students will start writing their own argument essays.
Thanks for checking in. -JN
Hello, people. When we reconvene, I will conduct a review of the rhetorical triangle and the last set of vocabulary words. On Tuesday I will assess Aristotle's Rhetorical Triangle. Wednesday will be the vocabulary quiz.
We are working on argument analysis and will begin to apply that to our own writing this week.
Members of the advanced class should have copies of The Call of the Wild by now. I will begin assigning chapter deadlines followed by reading quizzes shortly.
**All classes: our next unit will use Animal Farm. I'd like all students to have a copy. We will begin it in mid-February.
This week we begin our first unit on persuasive writing. Students will be reading and analyzing arguments, identifying claims, reasons, and evidence. Students will receive new vocabulary words soon, but there will be no test this week.
We are learning about Aristotle's Rhetorical Triangle. There will be a test on it at the end of the week.
Students will also be learning how to create their own arguments.
Students in the advanced Language and Literature class will be reading The Call of the Wild, as well.
In My Class:
