Welcome back from fall break. I've been grading second person point of view narratives, and I've noticed several students still have not submitted one to me. For that matter, I still don't have the first personal narrative from some students. These narratives should have been typed up and emailed to me by now, and their absence will have a negative impact on the final average.
This coming week students will be assessed on identifying point of view (1st, 2nd, 3rd) and number (singular/plural) in a sentence, and there will be a reading quiz on the first three chapters of TCOtW.
ALso, at the end of the week, there will be a vocabulary quiz: OBSCURE, GENIAL, IMPARTIAL, MOROSE, PERVADE, UNCOUTH, ANTAGONIST, BELLIGERENT, CONSTERNATION, FORLORN, MALIGNANT, DISCONSOLATE, ARDUOUS, DIABOLICAL, INDISCRETION. These grades will all kick off the second 9 weeks grading cycle.
We will only spend the rest of this week and the next on THE CALL OF THE WILD. Following that, we will begin a 3 week unit on analyzing and writing persuasive/argumentative essays. Our next anchor text will be Carnegie's old classic, HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE.
Thanks for checking in.
