Bonus points to anyone who got the reference above! It's a music thing.
All right - for the remainder of the week this is what we've got:
Wednesday = vocabulary quiz, punctuation review (commas, colons, semicolons, dashes, parentheses), writing workshop. I will sit down with individual students and review the first draft of their recently submitted research papers.
We must finish The Contender soon, as a new unit begins later next week. Students will be annotating the remainder of The Contender and answering graded text-dependent questions over the next few days.
Before the end of the week, our young scholars will receive a rubric for their next major writing assignment, a research essay about what it means and what it takes to be a contender. They will reflect on what can make them contenders. There will also be a research element, as they will find and cite examples of other people who were contenders.
The next anchor text is called The Glory Field.
There is no new vocabulary list, yet - coming soon.
