Students will take their first vocabulary test of the new quarter when they return from this MLK holiday weekend. Here, again, are the words: Contemptible Enmity Hideous Allegory Precarious Laborious Tyranny Dissent Vivacious Inconceivable Parasitical Cynical Obstinate Ecstasy
We've done quite a bit of practice in school. Now it's up to each student to study.
This week, we will begin, in earnest, learning research skills and the basics of MLA formatting. Students will have to pick a particular subject to research based on the multifaceted ideas of POWER and/or SUSTAINABILITY. They will work in small teams to create in informative & persuasive presentation about their subject.
We are reading ANIMAL FARM. Students need to be on chapter 3 by the time they return to school. I did not send copies home, but there are free audio and PDF versions of it online; I'm pretty sure. I made a big packet for students to fill in as they read. It will be graded at the end of the unit.
In My Class:
All students are expected to behave as scholars. I am dedicated to fostering a safe, supportive, fun, rigorous academic environment. I love my job, I love your kids, and I'm going to do my best for them. I expect them to do their best as well.
