There will be no tests this week. We'll just be starting our newest unit featuring Bronx Masquerade.
I will be giving out new Greek and Latin Roots sheets, as well as a new vocabulary list.
We will soon begin working on explanatory/informational writing and learn some of the basics of MLA citation.
There is really nothing more to add a this point.
Thanks - JN
This week students will be assessed on their new sets of Greek and Latin roots. I don't have them with me, now, but I'll be glad to put them up on Weebly when I get back to school Monday.
I also need to assess students on Compound Sentences. Both quizzes should be farily simple, but encourage your child to study his or her notes; it would be a shame to blow it when it could be a nice addition to the grade book.
We will be finishing In the Footsteps of Crazy Horse. I will ask students to type up all their chapter summaries and submit them to me via email once the final chapter is complete. I won't expect those to be submitted until next week.
Quite soon we will begin a new IB Unit and start reading Bronx Masquerade.
Thanks for checking in - JN
DOCILE, PRUDENT, REITERATE, EQUIVOCATE, ASSIDUOUS, NEPOTISM, ACRIMONIOUS, CONCURRENT, OBSEQUIOUS, EXPROPRIATE, LACKADAISICAL, MORIBUND
These are the words being tested Thursday in my 6th period class.
Hello. This is the last week to turn in late work and attempt test retakes for this first quarter.
There will be a quiz on the first ten Greek and Latin roots mid-week.
In class, we are annotating the novel, In the Footsteps of Crazy Horse and summarizing each chapter. These objective summaries are for a grade, but it's likely they will end up on next quarter's grade book.
The advanced class also has a special set of vocabulary words on which they will be tested. Thanks - JN
