Also, we are learning about Prepositional, Appositive, and Verb Phrases (gerunds, participles, infinitives). Students will need to be able to identify these phrases as they are used in sentences.

Hello! We have a vocabulary test Monday on the words I posted last week. Students need to be able to use the words in sentences. Other than that it's all about preparing for TN Ready. Please, encourage your children to take it seriously and try hard to do well. Thanks!
As you may already be aware, most of our classroom work will be focused on preparing for TN Ready. However, there will still be some work for grades leading up to the big test.
For instance, students should be submitting a compare and contrast essay to me ASAP in which they analyze two different texts. These are formal typed assignments with the proper MLA heading.
Student are getting a new vocabulary list Monday. The test on these words will be on the following Monday: accentuate, aspire, bamboozle, boisterous, commemorate, despondent, divulge, flourish, hypocrite, inadvertently, introspection, laconic.
Students will also be answering text dependent questions and writing about a chapter in How To Win Friends and Influence People.
Thanks - JN
